Peregrine Farm is situated on 16 acres between the towns of Newnan
and Moreland in Coweta County, Georgia. Coweta County is the home of a number of beautiful horse farms, both elaborate
and modest, including farms who hosted equestrian teams competing in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. The farm is
currently home to myself, two dogs, three cats, and five horses.
Prior to moving to Coweta County, I spent several years living in a hundred-year-old craftsman-style
bungalow in Grant Park, one of the oldest surviving Atlanta neighborhoods. As a result of owning that house, I
became a devotee of the craftsman architectural style (prevelant in the U.S. during the 1920s and 1930s, and associated with
craftsmen such as Gustav Stickley, Charles Rennie MacIntosh, Frank Lloyd Wright, and the Green brothers), and resolved that
in building my "house in the country" I would try to emulate the craftsman style as closely as possible. The house includes
three fireplaces, custom tile and stained glass work reflecting natural, medieval and animal themes, full length covered porches
in the front and back, historically accurate wall covernings and paint schemes, hickory and oak cabinetry, stone and
hardwood floors, period lighting, and deeply stained wood trim throughout -- all without sacrificing modern conveniences
such as a three-car garage, full basement, and modern kitchen and bathroom amenities. Much of the work was done
by tradespersons based in Coweta County.
