Conformationally Correct and Versatile Sport Horses
Peregrine Farm's goal is to breed a small number of conformationally correct, versatile, and athletic horses who can suit the needs of riders of all abilities while enduring the rigors of regular riding, the hunt field, and/or competition without injury or problems with soundness.  Our goal is to combine the conformational sturdiness, refinement, and suspension of the Arabian horse with warmblood stallions from proven performance bloodlines to create a medium-sized cross (16hh-16.1hh) demonstrating strong performance abilities without the soundness issues often prevalent in horses bred for the racetrack.  Conformation, soundness, and the overall balance of the horses we breed is a primary goal; no matter how talented a horse may be, it does no-one any good (especially the horse) to be unable to perform due to conformational defects causing a propensity for injury or lameness.  We consult with a veternarian to assess conformation, pedigree and dam-sire match for every breeding.

The Warmblood-Arabian cross is becoming one of the more popular Warmblood crosses, capable of competing in both open sporthorse competitions and the Half-Arabian sporthorse and show classes.  A particularly good example of a successful Warmblood-Arabian cross is TF Peron's Brilliance, a National Champion Trakehner-Arabian stallion registered both by the ATA and the American Warmblood Society (www.tfperonsbrilliance.com).  We aspire to produce a similar quality of horse here.

The farm's first broodmare, Anna, is a 15.2 hand Half-Arabian mare with excellent conformation, even temperment, athleticism, movement, and jumping ability.  For 2006, Anna was bred to Donnermeyer, a Swedish Warmblood/AWS stallion standing at Brookstone Farms in Brooks, Georgia (www.brookstonefarms.com).  Donnermeyer's pedigree is truly impressive:  His sire, DeNiro, in 2005 was ranked #7 among leading dressage sires by the USEF, his maternal grand-sire, Weltmeyer, was ranked #1, and his paternal grand-sire, Donnerhall (now deceased) was ranked #3.  Donnermeyer himself has been very successful at producing talented and correct foals, with a number of his warmblood crosses being given a "Supreme" rating by the American Warmblood Society.  The result of that breeding is a beautiful, confident, and refined filly, Hala Dynamo, who is for sale on this site.  The success of the Donnermeyer-Anna cross will lead us to repeat that breeding for 2007.

We are also fortunate to be able to breed to other, purebred Arabian mares with fantastic pedigrees, movement, and conformation through our association with Oakvale Arabians.  For 2007, we are fortunate to be able to lease a pure Polish Arabian mare, Jasmine Lady (by Polak, out of a Barnaby daughter/Werbor granddaughter (www.pullensarabians.com)), who has been bred to Donnermeyer.  Jasmine produced a beautiful, HUGE, purebred Arabian filly last year, and her offspring will be eligible to be registered both by AWS and as a Half-Arabian.  For information about Jasmine's pedigree or her offspring, please e-mail or call the number below.

The farm's second broodmare is Brooke, a purebred, halter-class Clydesdale bred by the president of the Georgia Draft Horse Association, and who as a yearling qualified for national-level breed awards.  Brooke will be bred to lighter, athletic stallions to produce solid, hunter-type draft-crosses with the potential to excel in jumping events or in the hunt field.  Brooke just turned 3, and she is being lightly started under saddle this summer.  We intend to breed her in 2008 for a 2009 foal.

We hope to create something truly special with the fine group of mares we have available.  Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
